Ramaiya Stores

Ramaiya Stores is located in Mundhra Main, right near the Mundhra Port in the Kutch district. Being so close to the port means there is always a lot of activity with ships and trucks. We are primarily grain merchants. Our shop is a busy place, especially when the harvest comes in or when there are big shipments moving through the port. The air here often smells like salt from the sea and the dust from the grains we handle. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have time for anything that isn't related to the work at hand. My family has been in this trade for a long time. We know the farmers and the transporters pretty well by now. The warehouse can get quite dusty, and we are constantly moving bags around to make space for new stock. We just try to be fair with everyone and keep our word. That’s how business is done in Kutch. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s steady. We spend most of the day on our feet or talking to drivers who are trying to get their loads delivered on time. The heat in this part of Gujarat can be intense, so we usually take a short break in the afternoon when the sun is at its peak. Then it’s back to work until the sun goes down. It's a tough job but someone has to do it, and we've been doing it for years.
