About Davda Masala Gruh Udhyog – Food & Beverages in Kutch
Davda Masala Gruh Udhyog is tucked away on Sabuani Street in the Bhid Bazar area. It’s a traditional gruh udhyog, which means it started as a small home-based setup and grew from there. Bhid Bazar is exactly what the name suggests—crowded and full of life. Our workshop is on a narrow street where the smell of roasting spices is always thick in the air. We spend our days grinding chilies, turmeric, and coriander. It’s a dusty business, and everything we wear ends up smelling like masala by the end of the shift. We don't have fancy automated machines for everything; a lot of the work is still done by hand or with simple grinders. We have a small team of local people who know exactly how the spices should look and feel. The building is old, with narrow doors and high ceilings. We keep the masala in big metal bins before it gets packed. There’s no big sign outside, just the sound of the grinders and the constant flow of people coming in to buy fresh packets. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy packaging. We just make the masala and sell it to the people who walk through Bhid Bazar. It’s an honest living, and we’ve been doing it this way on Sabuani Street for as long as I can remember.
