Getting out here to Kanaiyabe takes a bit of time, especially since we’re located right at the 34 km milestone on the Bhuj Bhachau Road. It’s a bit of a trek from the main town. The road is often dusty, and you see a lot of trucks passing by all day. We’ve been set up here for a while, dealing with the heavy stuff. The village life is quiet, but our site stays pretty active. It’s not like those shiny offices in the big cities. Here, we deal with the heat and the wind coming off the plains. Most of us have been working together for years now. We know the routines by heart. The workshop is big and can get quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a break when the sun is at its peak. There’s a lot of metal and grease involved in what we do. It’s honest work, though. We spend our days making sure things are moving as they should. Sometimes the power goes out, or the delivery truck is late because of the road conditions, but we manage. You get used to the pace of life out here. It’s different than being in a crowded city center. We just focus on the machines and the tasks at hand. It keeps us busy enough. The milestone is a good landmark for people trying to find us. We just keep our heads down and get the job done every day.
