Markan Rice Mill

Markan Rice Mill is situated right in the middle of the Anaj Mandi on the Main Road. Being in the grain market means there is never a quiet moment. There are always people shouting, trucks backing up, and the smell of raw grain in the air. We have a small office near the front, but most of the time we are out on the floor or in the yard. The Main Road is always packed, so getting the big trailers in and out takes a lot of patience and someone waving their arms to stop traffic. The mill itself is a sturdy old building. It has seen better days, but it does what it needs to do. We don't have any fancy cooling systems, just big open windows and a few industrial fans that blow the dust around. It’s a gritty kind of work. You go home with grain in your shoes every single day. We don't use any high-tech software to run the place; we mostly use ledgers and memory. It works for us. The guys who work here are local men who know how to handle the heavy bags without complaining too much. We see all kinds of people coming through the Mandi, and everyone is usually in a hurry. We just try to keep our heads down and keep the rice moving through the machines so we don't fall behind.
