Hari Om Rice & General Mills

You can find us at Shop No-33/2 in the New Grain Market. Hari Om Rice & General Mills isn't a massive factory, but we stay busy enough in the market. Being in the New Grain Market means there is always noise and people shouting and tractors moving around. It’s a lively place to be. Our shop is where we do the business and handle the general milling side of things. It gets very hot in the summer under the tin roof, especially when the machines have been running for hours. We keep the shutters open to get a bit of a breeze. We’ve been in this spot for a few years now and it feels like home. The piles of sacks can get pretty high, sometimes blocking the light from the entrance. We don't have a website or anything like that. If people need us, they just walk into the market and find shop thirty-three. We do our own loading mostly. It keeps us fit, I suppose. The paperwork is all done by hand in a big notebook. Sometimes we sit outside on wooden stools when things are slow. The market has its own rhythm, and we just follow it. It’s a simple way to earn a living. We know the other shop owners and we help each other out with tools or extra hands when needed. It is a good community.
