Engineer

My name is Guru Charan and I run things here in Kotipalli. This is a small place in the East Godavari district. My dad, Kali Prasad, helped me get settled into this line of work. Being an engineer in K. Gangavaram Mandalam means you see a lot of different types of problems every day. Some days are slow and others are packed with people asking for help with their structures or machines. It’s a humid area, so we deal with that while we work. I grew up around here and decided to stay instead of moving to a big city. The office is simple, just enough space for the books and the computer. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. It is just me putting in the hours. People around here know where to find us if they have a project that needs a technical eye. Andhra Pradesh has its own way of doing things, and we fit right in with the local pace. I usually start early in the morning before it gets too warm. We handle the paperwork and the site visits ourselves. It is a one-man show mostly, but sometimes family helps out. We just try to do the job right and move on to the next one. It feels good to be working in my own village. Sometimes the power goes out but we just use the battery and keep going. Every project is a bit different from the last.
