About St Xaviers Residential School – Education in Kullu
You can find us right on the Main Road in Mandi. It’s a residential setup, so we have students living here full-time during the terms. This means the building never really sleeps. Even at night, there’s usually a light on somewhere or a warden walking the halls. The kitchen is one of the busiest spots, especially around breakfast and dinner time when everyone is hungry. We have simple dormitories with metal beds and lockers for the kids to keep their things. The classrooms are just across the courtyard, so nobody has a long walk to get to their lessons. Mandi can get quite wet during the monsoon, so we spend a lot of time dealing with damp floors and trying to get laundry dry. Our staff is a mix of people who teach and people who look after the building and the grounds. We don’t go in for anything flashy; it’s a practical place for students to live and study. The noise level can get a bit high when the classes let out, but that’s expected. We’ve been on this road for a long time, and the locals are used to seeing the students out and about on their breaks. It’s a straightforward life here, focused on the routine of meals, classes, and a bit of free time in the evenings. We just keep things running smoothly day by day.
