Modern Hi-Tech Model School

Out on Rajwari Road in Chunahan, you'll find Modern Hi-Tech Model School. Despite the name, we are a pretty grounded place. The school is located in the Rao area of Mandi, which is a bit of a trek for some, but it’s where we are. We have the usual classrooms and a bit of space outside for the students. Mandi weather is usually okay, but the rainy season makes the Rajwari Road a bit muddy. We’ve been here for a while now, serving the families in the Chunahan area. We try to keep up with the basic requirements for a school these days. The rooms are painted every few years when we have the extra funds. Most of our teachers live nearby and they walk or take the local bus to get here. It’s a quiet life in this part of Mandi, and the school is a big part of that for the local kids. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles. We just teach the curriculum and make sure the kids show up on time. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to open the windows for light. It's not a perfect system, but it's what we have and it works for the community here. We see the same families year after year as the younger siblings start coming to us. The front gate squeaks a bit when it's windy, but we don't mind much as long as the children are learning their lessons.
