Our company, Roshan Fruits India Pvt. Ltd., is based at S.No:231/2 on the T.V. Malai High Road. This is in Jagadevi Village. Being out in the village means we are close to the farms. We handle a lot of fresh produce, mostly whatever is in season around here. We have a large warehouse area where we sort the fruits. There are wooden crates everywhere and the floor is usually covered in straw used for packing. It’s a lot of work to make sure nothing gets bruised. We start very early, sometimes at four in the morning when the first pickings arrive. The air is cool then, which is good for the fruit. We have a small office with a fan and a desk where we handle the transport schedules. My father started this as a small trading business and now we send fruit to different parts of the state. We don’t have a fancy marketing team. We just know which farmers grow the best stuff. The village life is quiet, but our yard is always buzzing with activity. We have a few old trucks that we use for local transport. Sometimes the rain makes the road muddy and slow, but we manage to get things moving. It’s all about the timing. If you’re too slow, the fruit goes soft. So we stay busy and keep the crates moving all day to ensure everything stays fresh.
