Malaiappa Foods is right in the middle of the action at 37, Ambur Bazar. If you know the bazar, you know how crowded and lively it gets. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. Selling food products in a place like this means you’re always on your feet. There’s always someone asking a question or a delivery guy trying to find a place to park. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside the shop because we try to keep a lot of stuff in stock. We aren't some big corporate chain. We’re just a local business in the heart of the market. The walls are lined with all sorts of things, and it can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. But we know where everything is. The noise from the bazar is constant, but after a while, you don't even hear it anymore. We open early when the market starts waking up and stay until things quiet down in the evening. It’s a lot of work, but being in the bazar means we see everyone. We don't have a mission statement or anything. We just sell food and try to keep things moving. Sometimes the floor is a bit messy or the shelves are crooked, but that’s just the character of a busy market shop. We enjoy being right here in the thick of things.
