L&T Krishnagiri Thopur Toll Road Ltd.

Our office is situated out in Palayam Village, near the Thopur Post Office. We look after the Krishnagiri Thopur toll road. It’s a bit of a remote spot compared to the big towns. Most of our day is spent watching the traffic go by. There’s a constant hum of engines from the trucks and buses using the highway. It’s a dusty place because of all the vehicles kicking up dirt from the road. Our building is very basic. It’s got a few rooms for the staff to sit in and a place to keep the maintenance tools. We don’t have fancy amenities out here. It’s all about keeping the road running smoothly. Sometimes there’s an accident or a breakdown that we have to help with, which breaks up the routine. The weather is usually quite hot, and there isn't much shade around the toll area. We eat our lunch together and talk about the different vehicles we’ve seen during the shift. It’s not a glamorous job, but the road is a main link for many people. We have a small crew that stays here through the night too. The paperwork is mostly just logs of who passed through and what work was done on the tarmac. It’s a simple, hardworking environment where everyone knows what they have to do. We’ve been here since the road was built and we’ve seen it change over the years.
