Bismillah Rice Mundy

Down here at 86 Nageswaran Koil North Street, we stay pretty busy with the grain. Ambur can get really warm, so the mornings are usually our most productive time. Bismillah Rice Mundy is tucked into this part of the street where there’s always something happening. Most of the day involves lifting bags and checking the quality of what comes in. The floor gets covered in a bit of dust, but that’s expected when you’re dealing with rice all day long. A regular routine starts before most shops open. Once the shutters go up, we start moving the stock around to make room for new deliveries. It’s a lot of physical labor, and by the end of the day, our backs are usually feeling it. The street outside is narrow, so when a truck arrives, everything has to move fast to avoid blocking the way. There are some old scales and a few benches for people to sit on while they wait. Decoration isn't a priority here. Just the bags stacked high and the smell of the grain fill the space. Sometimes the neighbors come by for a quick chat. Fancy signs aren't really our thing. People just know where we are on Nageswaran Koil North Street. It’s just an honest day’s work for us. We keep our heads down and focus on getting the orders ready for whoever needs them. It keeps us going day in and day out.
