Sri Skandaya Farmers Producer Company Limited is our little operation over in Mopidevi Mandal. You can find us at D.No.4-5/1. We are just local farmers who decided that we should probably start looking out for ourselves a bit better. The area around Mopidevi is good for farming but the market can be really tough on a guy working by himself. So, a bunch of us sat down and put this company together. We spend a lot of time just talking to each other about what’s growing well and what isn't. Our office is a simple place where we keep our records and meet up to discuss the prices. It’s not some high-tech setup. We mostly use paper and pens and a lot of memory. We help each other out with advice on pests or how to handle the irrigation when the water is low. It’s a community effort more than a business in the traditional sense. We have our ups and downs and sometimes the money is tight, but having the company helps spread the risk a little. We are just trying to keep the tradition of farming alive in Mopidevi while making sure the younger generation doesn't all run off to the cities. It’s a slow process and we take it one day at a time, hoping the soil stays good and the rains come when they are supposed to. We hope to stay here for a long time.
