Down here on the Main Road in Chanubanda, we spend most of our time dealing with lemons. The address is 1-190, and it’s a spot where there’s always a bit of dust from the road and the smell of citrus in the air. We’ve been doing this for a while now. It’s not a complicated business. We get the lemons, we sort them, and we get them ready for wherever they need to go next. The sun can be really strong in this part of the country, so we try to do the heavy work in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. You see a lot of trucks passing by our place. Some of the drivers stop for a chat or to ask for directions. We know most of the farmers around here because we’ve been working with them for years. The floor is usually covered in crates and there’s always someone busy packing things up. We don’t have a fancy website or a big marketing department. We just have lemons and a few honest people who know how to work hard. It’s a noisy place sometimes with all the shouting and the crates moving around, but it’s a good kind of noise. We just take things one day at a time, making sure the fruit is handled right. It’s a plain, simple life here in Chanubanda, and that suits us just fine.
