Sri Kanaka Durga Carry Point

Our little place, Sri Kanaka Durga Carry Point, is right on the Main Road in Poranki. It’s a busy stretch of road here in Vijayawada, and we’ve been at 1-250 for a while. Mostly, we just cook up daily meals for people who are too tired to do it themselves after work. It’s not a big fancy dining room, just a counter where you can pick up your food and head home. We usually have the standard rice, dal, and curries ready in the afternoons and evenings. The kitchen gets pretty hot, especially during the summer months, but we just get on with it. We see a lot of the same faces every day, neighbors from around Poranki who just want something that tastes like home. It’s hard work, waking up early to get the vegetables from the market and starting the stoves. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us making sure the containers are filled. Sometimes we run out of the popular items early, which is just how it goes when you cook in small batches. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to feed the local folks who live nearby. If you are passing through the main road, you can't miss us. It’s a plain shop, but it serves its purpose for the community here. We just keep the lights on and the food ready for whoever needs a quick dinner.
