Rajkrishna Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in the village of Saraurakatadu. We work out of Krishna Kumar Shahi’s place, which is right in the heart of the village. Being in Saraurakatadu means we are close to the fields and the people we work with every day. It’s a small operation, really. We started it because we realized that farmers are better off when they work together instead of competing. Most of our days are spent talking to people, listening to their problems with the soil or the weather, and trying to find solutions that work for everyone. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s an honest one. We have to deal with a lot of regulations and paperwork that we don't always enjoy, but it’s necessary to keep the company running. Krishna Kumar’s place is always open for a chat and a cup of tea. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write shiny brochures. We just tell people what we are doing and hope they want to be a part of it. It’s about building something that lasts in the village. Sometimes we struggle with the logistics of getting our goods to the bigger markets, but we always find a way through it eventually. We just take things as they come and try to keep everyone happy.
