We’ve been here in Modakkallur for quite a while now. Most people around Atholi Sivapuri probably know where the site is. It’s just how things are run in this part of Kozhikode. The day starts early, usually before the sun gets too hot, and we just get on with the work. Dealing with stone isn't exactly a quiet job, but it's what we do. Eramangalam Granites Private Limited has been part of the local landscape for a long time. Some of the guys have been working the machines since they were young. It’s heavy work, mostly moving blocks and making sure the trucks get loaded up right. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when the rains hit Kerala hard and the ground gets muddy. We just deal with it as it comes. There isn't much to say about it other than it's a steady routine. You’ll see the lorries coming in and out of the gate all day. We try to keep things organized, though it can get a bit chaotic during the busy months. It’s not a fancy office setup or anything like that. Just a yard with plenty of rock and the equipment needed to handle it. People stop by to ask about what’s available, and we just show them what’s sitting in the yard. It is a straightforward business, really. No big secrets to it. We just keep the operations going day after day and hope the machinery doesn't break down too often.
