Chhirakkal Hollow Bricks

We started Chhirakkal Hollow Bricks here in Thalayad a while back. It's just a local spot in Kattppara where we make blocks for people building nearby. The yard stays pretty busy most days. We usually have the machine running early in the morning to get the drying done while the sun is out. It’s dusty work, honestly. My hands are always covered in grit by lunch time. We just stack them up and wait for the trucks to come by for pickup. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us out, especially when it rains hard, then everything slows down. People around here know where to find us. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just the shed and the stacks of bricks. If you drive past Kattppara, you'll see the piles. We keep track of everything in a ledger book. Most of the guys working here live right in the neighborhood. We talk about the news or what's going on in town while we move the heavy stuff. It's regular work, nothing too special about it. We just try to make sure the bricks don't crumble when you pick them up. Sometimes we run out of stock if a big project starts up, so we have to tell people to wait a few days. That’s just how it goes for us. We've been at this for a bit now and the routine stays mostly the same every year.
