Udaya Oil Mills

Our mill is located in Karukachal, right near the KCP. You can usually smell the place before you even see the building because of the seeds we are processing every day. It is a loud environment to work in with the machines running from morning to evening. I have worked here for a long time now and the constant sound of the equipment is just part of the background to me. We handle all the pressing and the bottling ourselves right here on the floor. It is heavy work, involving lifting big bags and moving heavy drums around the space. The building is quite old and the floors are always a little bit slick from the oil, so you have to be careful where you walk. We get customers from all over the local area coming in to buy the oil we make. Most of the day is spent checking the machines and making sure everything is running exactly as it should. It gets very hot inside the mill during the afternoon, especially when you are working near the presses. We take our short breaks outside where the air is a bit cooler. It is not a fancy office job by any means; it is manual labor and you get your hands dirty every single day. We have been at this location for many years. The routine stays mostly the same. We start early, work through the load, and clean up the equipment before heading home for the night.
