Karamel House is where we are based, out in Karikode near the post office in the Kottayam district. It is a bit different from being in a big city center because things move a lot slower here in Kerala. Our office is on the first floor, and we have a decent view of the greenery and the trees outside, which is really nice when the rain starts coming down. The weather here can be quite something, so we spend a lot of time making sure the roof doesn't leak during the heavy monsoon season. We are just a small team working out of this space at Xiii 123. Most of the neighbors are families or small local shops, so it feels very much like being part of a real community. We show up in the morning, brew some coffee, and get started on whatever tasks are sitting on the desk for that day. It isn’t a high-tech corporate office with glass walls and shiny floors, just a regular building with wooden doors and some old ceiling fans that have seen better days. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit and talk or take a break until it comes back on again. It is a very quiet way to work compared to the rush of Kochi. People often stop by to drop off mail or just to say hello. We like it here because it is simple and close to home for us.
