Allied Architects

Allied Architects is found in the Pukadiyil Building along Sastri Road. It is one of those spots that everyone passes on their way to something else. Our space is pretty basic. We have some large tables for the drawings and a few chairs that have seen better days. Working on Sastri Road means there is always noise from the street, but you get used to it after a week or two. We spend a lot of time thinking about how buildings should look and stay standing. It isn't always exciting; there is a lot of paperwork and checking local rules. Sometimes we just sit and stare at the screen until the right idea comes along. People in the building know us as the ones always carrying big tubes of paper. The lighting in the office could probably be better, but it works for what we need. We don't spend much money on decorating our own place because we are too busy figuring out other people's spaces. It’s a messy job sometimes, especially when we come back from a site with mud on our shoes. We just get on with it. There is always a new project or an old one that needs a quick fix. That is just life in the Pukadiyil Building for us. We keep the kettle going for most of the afternoon to stay awake through the drafting.
