New Skill Art Tailors

We run New Skill Art Tailors over in Kasim Gali, which is just off Station Road here in Kota. It’s a small space filled with sewing machines and scraps of fabric everywhere. You can usually hear the hum of the machines from the street. It’s not a very quiet area since Station Road is always busy with people catching trains or buses. We spend most of our time bent over the tables, measuring and cutting. My hands are always covered in chalk marks. It’s hard work and your back starts to ache after a few hours, but we stay at it. People bring us all sorts of things to fix or make from scratch. Some days we have more work than we can handle, and other days we’re just sitting around waiting for someone to walk through the door. Kasim Gali is a bit hidden, but locals know where to find us. We’ve got a couple of mirrors on the wall and a small stool for people to sit on while we check the fit. It’s a simple life. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Most people find us because their neighbors told them about us. Kota is a big city, but our corner feels small. We take things as they come. If a machine breaks, we fix it ourselves and keep going. That’s just how it is at the tailor shop. We focus on getting the measurements right and getting the work done on time.
