L. B. Knitwear

You can find us at G 42 in the Chambal Industrial Area. We are right across from the Multimetals Limited factory, which is a huge landmark that everyone knows. Since we are in an industrial zone, the surroundings are mostly warehouses and big tin sheds. L. B. Knitwear is where we do all our knitting work throughout the week. The machines make a lot of noise, a constant rhythmic clicking that you just get used to after a few days. It’s a large space with high ceilings to try and keep it from getting too hot, but in the peak of summer, it still feels like an oven inside. We have big stacks of yarn in different colors piled up in the corners. Most of the people who work here live nearby and walk to the unit every morning. We don’t have a fancy office for meetings; usually, we just talk about the work right there on the shop floor. It’s a very hands-on environment. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the knits and making sure the machines are oiled properly so they don't seize up. The road outside is quite dusty and has a lot of big potholes from all the heavy trucks passing by. We usually have our lunch together in a small shaded area out at the back of the building. It’s not a glamorous job, but we’ve been doing it for a long time. We just focus on getting the orders finished on time.
