Gupta Traders

Gupta Traders is located on Nayapura Khai Road. It’s an old part of town, so the streets are narrow and the buildings are packed tightly together. We deal with trading all sorts of goods, and our shop is basically filled from floor to ceiling with boxes and bags. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit down because every inch of space is used for storage. I spend a lot of my time on the phone talking to suppliers or checking the prices in the market. It’s a constant back-and-forth, trying to get things at a decent rate so we can pass them on to our customers. The front of the shop is usually open to the street, so we see everyone walking by and sometimes neighbors stop in just to say hello and drink a cup of chai. It gets very dusty with all the traffic outside, so we have to wipe down the counters a few times a day. We don’t have a website or any of that new stuff; we just use a big paper ledger to keep track of who owes what. It might seem old-fashioned to some people, but it has worked for us for years. We know most of our clients by their first names and we know what they usually need before they even ask. It’s just a regular local business trying to keep things organized in a very busy part of the city.
