You can find us at 191/A in Ballabh Bari, right in the Gumanpura area. We call it an academy and salon because we do a bit of both. We have people coming in to get their hair done, but we also spend time showing younger ones how the business works. It’s a lively place, often filled with the sound of blow dryers and people talking. The space is divided up so there's enough room for teaching and for regular customers. It’s not a high-end luxury spa. It’s a place where work happens. The walls have some charts about hair types and skin, and there are plenty of supplies tucked away on shelves. We’ve been in Gumanpura for a good while now, so people know where we are. We don't go in for big promises. We just show people the techniques and help the customers who walk through the door. Sometimes the sinks leak a little or the chairs squeak, but that’s just how it is in a busy shop. We stay open late most nights to accommodate everyone. It’s a lot of standing and a lot of talking. We enjoy the mix of students and regulars. It keeps the energy up. We don't have a fancy reception area; you just walk in and someone will help you. It’s a practical, hardworking shop for the people in this part of town.
