Balaji Collection

Balaji Collection is located right in the middle of Kasera Bazar, inside the Jhalawar Shopping Centre. It’s a place where we keep a variety of clothes, mostly for daily wear and some festive pieces too. The shopping centre gets quite crowded, especially during the wedding season or before the big holidays. Our shop isn't very large, so we have to be clever about how we hang the garments so people can see them properly. We’ve got a small changing area behind a curtain in the corner, but it’s a bit of a tight squeeze for most. Most of the time, I’m standing near the entrance greeting people as they walk past in the market. We don't do any big advertising; we just rely on people walking by and liking what they see in the window. The lighting inside is a bit yellow, but it makes the place feel warm and homey. Sometimes we have to move stacks of clothes around to find the right size for someone, and the piles can get a bit messy by the end of the day. We try to fold everything back up before we close. It’s just a normal clothing store in a busy market. We’ve been here long enough that some of the other shopkeepers have become good friends. It’s hard work being on your feet all day, but it’s what we do. It’s a simple life selling clothes in a busy bazaar.
