At 16 Jhalawar Road, you will find our engineering office. It is a brick building that has seen better days, but it is sturdy enough for what we do. We have been here for a while, and most of us know the local shopkeepers by name. Engineering is what we do every day, though it is not always as exciting as it sounds. A lot of it is just sitting at desks and checking numbers over and over again. We have some old drafting tables and a few newer computers that we use for the drawings. The office is usually a bit cluttered with rolls of paper and old project files. We don’t have a professional cleaning crew, so we just tidy up ourselves when things get too messy. There is no one to greet you at the door; you just walk in and find someone. We are a small team and we like it that way. We don’t use big words or try to impress anyone. If a project has a problem, we just sit down and try to figure it out together. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is coming up, eating snacks and drinking way too much chai. It is a practical job and we try to be honest about what can and cannot be done. Jhalawar Road is a busy place, but once you step inside, it is just us working away. We keep our coffee mugs on the desks and our heads in the blueprints.
