Talagolaru Mahila Agro Producer Companylimited

We are a group of women from the Pottangi area in Koraput who started the Talagolaru Mahila Agro Producer Company Limited. You can find us at Talagolaru, specifically at Baladaboi Busi’s place. This part of Koraput is beautiful but it can be a tough place to make a living. We all have our own small plots of land, and we decided that working together was better than trying to do everything separately. Most of us are balancing looking after our homes and working in the fields every day. We deal with all sorts of crops, depending on the time of year. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We sit together and figure out things like where to get fertilizer or how to transport our goods to the town. We make a lot of mistakes, but we learn from them. The company is just a way for us to have a bit more say in what happens to our produce. We don’t have any professional managers; it is just us, the women of Talagolaru, running the show. It gets busy, especially when the harvest is ready and everyone is working double time. We’re just trying to make sure our families are taken care of and that our farms stay productive. That’s what we are about, just honest work in the hills of Pottangi. There are no fancy offices here, just us and the land we work every single day.
