Jawahar Lower Primary School

Jawahar Lower Primary School is tucked away in Kollayil, Kollam. It is a small place for the younger kids starting out. You won't find anything flashy here. We have the usual classrooms with small benches and chairs for the little ones. Most of our days are spent teaching the basics like reading, writing, and simple math. It is a lot of work keeping thirty children focused at once, but we do what we can. The building is older, painted a few times over the years to keep it looking decent. We have a small yard where they run around during the breaks. You can hear them from down the road when it is playtime. Since it is a lower primary school, we only see them until they are about ten or eleven years old. After that, they move on to the bigger schools in the district. Many of the families in the neighborhood have sent their children here for generations. We know most of the parents by name. Sometimes we have to deal with scraped knees or lost pencils, which is just part of the daily routine. The staff stays busy with paperwork and lesson plans, often staying late to get things ready for the next morning. It is a quiet life in this part of Kollam, and the school is just a regular part of it. We just aim to get the kids through their early years without too much trouble.
