Indian Aquatic Products

Indian Aquatic Products is located at Number 1, Sakthikulangara. Being at address number one feels a bit special, though it’s just a regular building like any other once you’re inside. Sakthikulangara is a place deeply tied to the water, so it’s the right spot for us to be. You can usually smell the salt in the air and hear the activity from the nearby harbor if the wind is blowing the right way. Our space is pretty basic. We have a front area where people can walk in, and then the back where most of the actual work happens. It’s often quite humid, so the fans are always going at full speed. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some calendars and a clock that runs five minutes fast. Most of the people who work here have been with us for years, so we all know each other’s habits. We spend the day tracking shipments and talking to suppliers. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it has worked for us for a long time. Being in Sakthikulangara means we are right where we need to be, even if the building is just a plain old structure at the start of the road. We just keep at it every day.
