Vikash Marble is situated at 259 Rabindra Sarani. If you know this part of town, you know it’s one of the oldest and busiest streets around. There is always something happening outside our door. We deal with marble all day long. It’s heavy work and can get quite messy with all the dust, but that’s just how it is. Our space at 259 is filled with different slabs and pieces. We don't have a polished showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a working shop where people come to see the actual stone. Rabindra Sarani is a tight squeeze for trucks, but we manage to get our supplies in and out. Most of the people who come to see us are locals or builders who have been around for years. We aren’t trying to be the biggest marble place in the city. We just want to do a decent job for the people who walk in. The building itself has been there forever, like most of the structures on this road. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about what might work for their floors or counters. It’s practical talk, nothing fancy. The noise from the street is constant, from the trams to the rickshaws, but we don't notice it much anymore. We just keep our heads down and focus on the marble. It’s a simple life and a simple business here on Rabindra Sarani. We hope to stay here for many more years to come.
