Our little office is up on the second floor of Karnani Estate, in room number 71. If you've ever been to this building, you know it’s a maze of corridors and small rooms. We do tea exports, which basically means we spend all day on the phone or emailing people in different time zones. It’s a small team here. We handle the packing and the shipping details for tea going out to other places across the world. It’s not a big corporate setup. We have boxes of samples tucked into corners and calendars marked with shipping dates all over the walls. Some days it’s quiet, just the sound of someone typing away, and other days it’s a bit chaotic when a big order is due and the paperwork isn't finished. We don’t really do anything besides tea. It’s what we’ve always done. My cousin helps out with the accounts, and we have a couple of people who know everything there is to know about leaf grades. The building is old, and sometimes the power acts up or the hallways are dark, but we make it work. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to get good tea to the people who bought it. We’ve been in this room for years, and we’ve gotten used to the noise from the street outside. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to stay on top of the complicated export rules and shipping schedules. It is a lot of paper and a lot of tea.
