Umesh Beverages

Our shop is at 18A Rabindra Sarani, which is one of those streets that never seems to be quiet. Umesh Beverages has been in this spot for a long time. If you walk down the road, you’ll see the old buildings and the narrow lanes branching off. The space we have is tight, so we have to be very organized with how we stack the bottles. Every morning starts with the sound of shutters opening all along the sarani. We get the trucks in early before the traffic gets too bad, though it’s always a bit of a squeeze to get them parked. There’s no fancy air conditioning here, just the ceiling fans spinning away while we work. We handle a lot of local orders, so there’s always someone coming in or out with a handcart. The walls are a bit worn, and the floor has seen better days, but it’s where we do our business. We don't use much technology; a lot of the tallying is still done in big paper ledgers. The people working here live close by, so we all know the neighborhood gossip. It’s a gritty, busy environment, but it feels right for a beverage business in the heart of the city. We just keep our heads down and make sure the orders are ready on time. It is a lot of hard work but we are used to the noise and the rush.
