Terai Tea Co. Ltd.

You can find us at 11, Govt. Place East. It’s an old part of the city with a lot of history in the walls. Terai Tea Co. Ltd. has its office here, and it’s a fairly busy spot during the week. We handle the tea trade, mostly the administrative side of things. It’s a lot of coordination between the gardens and the buyers. The building itself has high ceilings and sometimes it gets a bit drafty in the winter months, but we have our tea to keep us warm. We aren't a high-tech startup or anything like that. Most of our desks are covered in files, maps, and tea sample tins. We have a routine that hasn't changed much in a long time. It works for us and the people we deal with. People come in and out, mostly folks we’ve known for decades in the tea circle. We don't do much marketing or try to sound bigger than we are. We are just a group of people making sure the tea gets from the gardens to the buyers. Sometimes the traffic outside near Govt. Place makes it hard to get to work on time, but once we’re inside, it’s all about the business. It’s a decent place to work. We have our tea breaks, of course, and we talk about the harvest or the weather. It’s just a normal day-to-day operation at number 11. We've been here for years and we'll probably be here for many more.
