Our office is tucked away on the fifth floor of the building at 4 Synagogue Street in Kolkata. If you know the area, you know it gets pretty crowded around here. We’re in room 503, mostly handling the sales side of things for the tea we deal with. It’s a lot of computer work, phone calls, and keeping track of orders. Kolkata has always been a hub for tea, so being right here in the middle of it makes sense for us. We aren't out in the fields ourselves, but we talk to the people who are every single day. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a place where we sit and get the logistics sorted out. Sometimes the internet acts up or the building gets noisy, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We spend our mornings looking at lists and our afternoons making sure the shipments are actually going where they're supposed to. There’s a lot of back-and-forth with the suppliers and the buyers. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We don't try to make it sound more exciting than it is. It's just about moving tea from one place to another and making sure the records are right. Most of us have lived in Kolkata our whole lives, so we're used to the pace here.
