Our business is on the top floor of 205 Rabindra Sarani, which used to be called Old-402. It is right on Upper Chitpur Road. Being on the top floor means a lot of stairs, which can be tiring when we have to carry heavy sacks of ingredients up there. The building is very old and has that classic North Kolkata feel to it. It is noisy outside with all the trams and the crowds, but up here it is a bit more peaceful. We make various food products in our kitchen space. It is not a modern factory by any means. We have old stoves and big wooden tables. The windows stay open most of the time to let the heat out, so we hear all the street sounds while we work. We don't have a fancy office or a place for people to sit and wait. If someone comes by, they usually just stand in the doorway. We have been in this area for a long time and know most of the other shop owners on the street. It is a tight-knit community. We don't do any big advertising. People find us because they know our stuff is good and tastes right. Sometimes the roof leaks during the heavy monsoon rains, but we just move the tables and keep going. It is a bit of a struggle sometimes, but we like being here.
