Our office is tucked away at 7 Swallow Lane, specifically in Room Number 38 on the first floor. If you know this part of the city, you know how these old buildings are. The stairs are a bit steep and the hallways are narrow, but it’s got a lot of history. We’ve been operating Tasati Tea from this little spot for a long time. It’s not a big corporate headquarters with a reception desk or a coffee machine in the lobby. It’s mostly just desks piled with papers and tea samples in small tins. The ceiling fan hums all day, and we spend a lot of time on the phone talking to the gardens or the buyers. Swallow Lane is always crowded with people carrying sacks and handcarts moving back and forth, so it gets pretty loud outside our window. We don’t really do any big advertising. Most people who know us have been dealing with us for years. It’s a quiet kind of business in a very noisy neighborhood. We just keep track of the stock and make sure the paperwork is correct. Sometimes the mail gets mixed up because there are so many offices in this building, but we usually sort it out. It’s just a regular place where we come to work every morning and go home when the sun goes down. We are just ordinary people doing our jobs in an old corner of town.
