Swastika

Our place is called Swastika and we are located on Bhagajatin Road in Kolkata. It is a very busy and crowded part of the city to be in. We deal in various types of goods, mostly the kinds of things that people need for their homes every single day. The building we are in is quite old, just like many of the other structures in this part of Kolkata. We have high ceilings but the floor space is packed with various boxes and large containers. We sell things like grains, mustard oil, tea leaves, and some local snacks. The sounds of the tram lines and the buses make a lot of noise right outside our door. We have lived and worked here so long that we are used to it by now. Many people stop by on their way home from the nearby station. We don't have any fancy glass doors or a sign that lights up. It is just an open front with a sturdy wooden counter. Sometimes we have a neighborhood cat that likes to hang around the entrance waiting for something to eat. My uncle started this shop a long time ago. We don't use much technology here at all. Most of the work is done by hand or with the help of a simple calculator. It involves a lot of lifting and moving heavy bags around. We try our best to keep everything fresh for our customers. The high humidity in Kolkata is often tough on the stock, so we have to be very careful with storage. It is just a regular local shop for regular people.
