Standard Optician

You’ll find us at No. 54/5 Canning Street. There are several shops around here, so you have to look for our door. It’s a small place, mostly filled with boxes of frames and the machines we use for testing. We’ve been working out of this spot for quite some time. The street outside is always crowded with people and carts, so it gets a bit noisy during the day. We spend most of our time helping people pick out frames that actually fit their faces. It’s not as easy as it looks. Sometimes the lenses take a few days to come back from the lab, and we have to call people to let them know. We aren't trying to be a high-end store. We just want to make sure people can see what they’re doing. The shop is a little cluttered because we have so many different styles and spare parts lying around. You might have to move a stack of papers if you want to sit down. We do a lot of repairs too, like fixing broken bridges or replacing nose pads that have gone yellow. It’s just a small local business. We open early and stay until the sun goes down. Most of the people who come in are from the neighborhood. We just keep things simple and do the work that needs doing. That is what Standard Optician is all about for us.
