Shubash Tea

Shubash Tea is located on the first floor of 129/C, Karl Marx Sarani. We are very close to the Fancy Market area in Kolkata. If you have ever been there, you know how packed the streets are. You have to navigate through crowds and rickshaws just to get to our front door. Once you get up the stairs, it is a little bit quieter, but you can still hear the horns honking outside. The building is quite old and the stairs are narrow and steep. We have been in this spot for a very long time now. Every room is filled with big jute sacks of tea. Sometimes it is hard to even find a place to sit down. We don't have a proper showroom for customers. If someone wants to see the tea, we just pull a handful out of a sack. It is an old-fashioned way of doing things but it works for us. My father started this business and I just took over when he got too old. We know almost everyone on this block. We often share a cup of tea with the other shop owners in the afternoons. The traffic jams can be a real headache when we are trying to move stock. But that is just how life is in this part of the city. We don't try to look like a big corporation. We just pack the tea and do our work.
