Shristihouse

Ariadaha is an old part of the city. 39 Joy Krishna Ghosal Road is a tallish building, and Shristihouse is way up on the 3rd floor in Room No.- 2. The stairs are narrow and a bit steep, so it’s a workout every time we come in. The room itself is small, but it has a decent view of the rooftops in the neighborhood. We have been here for a while now, and the postman knows us well. There’s a lot of paper everywhere because we do a lot of tracking and lists. The fan makes a clicking sound that we’ve stopped noticing after all these months. It’s mostly quiet up here, away from the street noise below. Sometimes the neighbors from the other rooms pop in to say hello or borrow a pen. We have a small kettle in the corner for making coffee when the afternoons get long. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven’t found the time to move everything out of the way. It’s a functional space that suits us. We don’t have fancy furniture or a big lobby. People usually call before they come because of those stairs. Ariadaha is a busy area, but once you get up to the third floor, things feel a bit slower and calmer. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. There is always plenty to stay busy with in Room 2.
