Relation

The shop is called Relation and we are situated at 35/2, B T Road in Kolkata. We are right beside Rabindrabharati University, so we see a lot of students and teachers all day long. B T Road is always loud with buses and honking, but inside it’s a bit calmer. We carry a mix of things because of the university nearby—lots of stationery, notebooks, and snacks, but also general items for the families living around here. It’s an old building, and the shop has that typical Kolkata feel with high ceilings and wooden racks. I’ve tried to keep things simple. Sometimes the students come in just to ask for directions or wait for a bus, and that’s fine. We aren't just selling things; we are part of the daily commute for many people. It gets really busy during the exam season when everyone wants pens and paper. I usually have to order extra stock then. The rain in Kolkata can make things difficult, sometimes water seeps in near the door, but we manage. Managing a shop on such a busy road means you never really have a quiet moment until late at night. It’s a lot of standing and moving boxes around. I don't really have any fancy displays. The items are just there on the shelves for anyone to see. It’s a straightforward business in a very busy part of the city.
