You can find Pioneer Tea & Exports Ltd. down at 18, Amartolla Street in the Barabazar area. If you know Barabazar, you know it’s always crowded and everything is constantly moving. Our building is right in the middle of all that chaos. We’ve been here long enough that the noise outside doesn’t really bother us anymore while we work. It’s a small office, packed with paper and tea samples from different regions. We handle a lot of the export side of things from here, so there is always talk about shipping dates and container space on the phones. It’s a bit of a maze getting to us if you’re not used to the narrow streets around here. We don't have a big lobby or a receptionist to greet you. Usually, you just walk in and one of us will be at a desk nearby doing something. We spend our time checking prices and making sure the tea is moving to where it should be. The air gets a bit heavy in the summer, but we have some old fans that keep things moving well enough. We aren't looking to be the biggest company in the world, just trying to keep our corner of the tea trade going. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing with different goods like cloth or spices. It’s a community of traders and we feel like we fit right in. We don't use any fancy technology for everything, it's mostly just hard work.
