People around Nodakhali know where we are. We've been at this spot in South 24 Parganas for a good while now. It is a small shop, mostly filled with mobile accessories and recharge vouchers. There is usually a bit of dust because the road outside stays busy all day. I spend most of my time behind the counter helping people who can’t get their internet to work or need a new screen guard because they dropped their phone again. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit. It’s not a fancy place but it works. We have different cables and chargers hanging on the walls. Most of the customers are neighbors who stop by just to chat for a minute while they wait for their top-up to go through. The morning starts with sweeping the floor and checking what we need to order. It gets crowded in the evenings when people are coming home from work. They want a quick fix for a broken speaker or a cheap earphone. We try to keep things simple here. Nothing complicated, just handling phones and sim cards day in and day out. If you walk down the main road, you will see the sign. It’s a bit faded from the sun but everyone knows it. We just keep doing what we do every day without much fuss.
