We are located right on the Major Arterial Road, in the North-South International Financial Hub over in New Town. It sounds like a really busy and important spot, and it is, but our office is actually quite quiet inside. We have some desks and computers set up where a few of us spend the whole day. Mostly we are working on software and fixing bits of code that aren't behaving. It’s not the kind of job where you see a lot of people face to face, as we are usually staring at monitors and typing away. The traffic outside can be a bit much during rush hour, so we often stay a little later just to let the roads clear up. We’ve got cables running along the floor and some empty coffee mugs that we really should wash more often. It’s a small operation here, so if someone is out sick, we all have to jump in and cover. We don't have a big HR department or fancy lunch rooms. We just grab something from the stalls nearby and eat while we talk about whatever project is giving us trouble that week. Being in the CBD means everything is modern around us, but we keep our space pretty basic. It's just a practical place to get tech work done without any fuss. We've been here for a bit now and have settled into a decent routine. Most of us take the bus in, so we’re always checking the time.
