New Prava Tea House

Being right by the 2 No Airport Gate in Kolkata is always interesting. There is so much movement here on Jessore Road. Our tea house, New Prava, sits on Nirmal Sengupta Sarani in Motilal Colony. It’s a busy spot because of the airport nearby. You get all sorts of people coming in—travelers, drivers, and people who live right here in the colony. We mostly focus on tea, obviously, but we have some other small things too. It gets really loud with the traffic and the planes, but that’s just life in this part of Kolkata. The shop isn't very large, so sometimes people just stand outside on the pavement while they have their tea. It feels like we are at the center of everything some days. We start early because the airport never really sleeps, and there is always someone looking for a hot cup of tea at odd hours. We don't have fancy furniture or anything like that. It’s just a simple place where you can get a break from the noise of Jessore Road for a few minutes. We've been at this location for some time now and we know the regulars who work nearby. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the crowd, but we enjoy the buzz of the airport gate area. It's a rough and tumble spot, but it feels like home to us.
