New Optico

We’re located at No. 65 Canning Street, right in the thick of things. It’s a small shop, and sometimes the dust from the street gets in, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the glass cases. We’ve got frames and lenses all over the place. People come in looking for something to help them see better, and we show them what we have on the shelves. It’s not a big corporate chain. It’s just us. Most of the time, the kettle is on in the back. Canning Street is always loud, so we have to talk a bit louder to be heard over the traffic. We’ve been here long enough that most of the regulars know our names. Sometimes people just stop by to say hello or get their glasses tightened because a screw came loose. We don’t mind. It’s part of being here. The light in the shop isn't always great, but we make do with what we have. Fixing frames is fiddly work, especially when the parts are tiny. Sometimes we run out of certain styles, and then we have to wait for the next delivery to come through the traffic. It’s a bit cramped when more than three people are inside, but it works for us. We just try to get the jobs done and keep the lenses clean. There isn't much more to it than that really.
