New Bombay Optical Co.

We have been running New Bombay Optical Co. for a long time at No. 56/1 Canning Street. It is a busy part of the city, and our shop is usually full of different frames and glass pieces. People stop by when they can’t see the newspapers as well as they used to or if their current glasses have a scratch that won’t go away. We don't have a lot of workers here, just a couple of us who know how to handle the lenses and frames. The shop is a bit cramped because we keep a lot of stock in the back, but it works for us. We don't spend money on big posters or radio ads. Most folks come in because they live nearby or their parents used to get their spectacles from us. If you walk in, you’ll see us working at the small desk near the front window. Canning Street is loud and crowded, but we like being right in the middle of it all. We help you pick out something that fits your face and doesn't fall off when you lean over. It is honest work and we do it every day from morning until the sun goes down. We don't have fancy lights or mirrors everywhere, just the stuff we need to get the job done right. If your frames are bent, we can usually straighten them out while you wait. We’ve seen all kinds of eyes over the years.
