We are located at 15 Girish Chandra Bose Road in Entally, which is pretty close to Sealdah. Being near the station means it’s always loud and there’s always people moving around outside. Microdata Computer Services has been in this building for years. The space is a bit cramped, especially with all the old monitors and computer parts we’ve collected over time. It’s hard to throw things away when you think you might need a specific screw or a cable later on. We spend most of our time at the workbenches, looking at motherboards or trying to recover data from a drive that’s seen better days. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the hardware to worry about that. My desk is a mess of screwdrivers and thermal paste, and honestly, I know exactly where everything is even if it looks like a disaster to anyone else. It’s not a high-tech lab you see in movies. It’s a real workshop with real dust and the smell of hot solder. We drink tea from the shop at the corner and talk about the news while we wait for software to install. Customers come in with their laptops and tell us about how they spilled coffee or dropped their bag. We just listen and see what we can do to fix it. It’s just a normal job in a busy part of Kolkata, honestly.
