Down in Shyambazar, on 65C Sikdar Bagan Street, that’s where you’ll find this branch of Metalogic Systems Pvt Ltd. North Kolkata has a very specific feel to it, with the narrow streets and the old houses all crowded together. Our office is right in the middle of that. It’s an old building, so it has high ceilings and those thick walls that keep it a bit cooler than the outside. We handle a lot of the technical system work from here. The street outside is always busy with people going to the market or tram bells ringing in the distance. It’s not the quietest place to work, but it’s got a lot of character. We have a small team here, just a few of us squeezed into the rooms with our computers. We’ve had to run a lot of extra wiring to make everything work for the tech we use. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to switch over to the backup, which is just part of living in this part of town. We mostly just focus on our tasks and try not to get too distracted by the noise from the street vendors. It’s a bit cramped, but we make it work. It's a real slice of the city here. There’s a lot of paper stacked up on the shelves and the floor isn't perfectly level, but it serves our needs just fine.
